Town Hall 14 will feature Mon Valley Residents Qiyam Ansari, Clean Water Action & Valley Clean Air Now, Ebony Flowers, New Voices for Reproductive Justice, and Germaine Patterson, Women for a Healthy Environment, who will highlight estimates from a Mortality Study that shows that Allegheny County residents suffer higher death rates from air pollution than other parts of the U.S. That’s in addition to Allegheny County having cancer, lung and heart disease rates among the worst 1% of counties in the U.S.A.
U.S. Steel is in the process of being sold. Shareholders and management stand to make BILLIONS, while residents in Allegheny County and beyond have been paying the true price for this company for 123 years, through disease and premature death.EPA Administrator Michael Regan has prioritized “the fair treatment and meaningful involvement” of residents of environmental justice communities. There is no better way to honor that than by inviting residents of those communities to the table as the future of U.S. Steel is being negotiated.
